Five Romantic Getaways to Consider in Australia

by Brian Klais

If you are looking for an interesting, off the beaten path place to spend a romantic weekend, there are many places that can appease your sense of adventure. You can have all of the amenities of a luxury hotel, but with the intimacy that you crave for celebrating your marriage or your anniversary. Here are some suggestions for taking your significant other on a weekend retreat.

Visit a Winery

Get out into the country and visit the wine regions in Australia and book accommodations at a winery. You can enjoy wine tasting and great food at several of the wineries you come across. For instance, you can book a luxury accommodation in Hunter Valley during your visit to the wine region in New South Wales.

Go to the Beach

beach

You can have a romantic getaway for two when you book accommodations in a bungalow at the beach. You don’t have to go to a busy luxury hotel when you head to one of the many beaches in the country; you can have an intimate weekend in a more private location. You can spend the weekend strolling the beach and enjoying the sights of nature around you during the day and enjoy world class cuisine in the evening.

Go to a Bed and Breakfast

There are several bed and breakfasts you can book for a romantic weekend all throughout the country. There locations where you can step back in time and enjoy more English-style accommodations in the country, or you can visit a B&B that is more modern and offers amenities like swimming pools in the city.

Visit a Sheep Station

Head to the Outback and enjoy a weekend getaway at a working sheep station. While it may not seem the place for romance, you can book luxury accommodations at several sheep stations in Australia and spend your days learning about the life tending sheep. You may be able to participate in sheep shearing at some locations, or you can just observe the professional cowboys at work.

Stay at a Lighthouse

If you wish to visit the coast, try renting accommodations at a lighthouse. You will need to book early because they tend to fill up quickly as there are only about 25 lighthouses in the country, and you will pay much more if you go during high season. However, staying in a lighthouse offers unique accommodations, and you will get a great view of the ocean where you are staying. Although lighthouses are fully automated, you can tour the facilities, and the keeper will show you how lighthouses used to work to warn those on shore about pending problems.

These five suggestions are only a few of the options you have for a romantic getaway with your partner. They provide the privacy you want to enjoy fully each other’s company, yet many of these locations are just around the corner from cities like Sydney, Perth or Melbourne. Try one of these getaways for a special occasion or just to escape everyday life.
